I Am A Graduate From The University Of California - 851 Words

In 10 years, I hope to be a graduate from the University of California, Riverside, School of Medicine and be a practicing physician in Southern California. Though I will thoroughly explore all specialties, I have a particular interest in pediatrics. With frequent visits to the doctor’s office due to illnesses and infections from my vesicoureteral reflux, the health care setting became a place I was comfortable with. I developed a strong relationship with my pediatrician and aspired to be like him. Becoming a pediatrician would allow me the privilege of watching my patients grow up and develop a relationship with them and their families. The root of my interest lies with my love for working with children. Throughout high school, I thoroughly enjoyed my time volunteering at a summer camp for elementary school children. My recent experiences tutoring disadvantaged children through Project Literacy at UCLA and volunteering at Kids Come First Community Health Center in Ontario have confirmed my decision to pursue pediatrics. My time at Kids Come First has exposed me to the health issues those in Inland Southern California are facing. Through my time at UCR School of Medicine, I hope to develop strong relationships with nearby hospitals and clinics, so that I would have the opportunity to continue serving that region. I would also love to incorporate my passion in community service into my career. I want to not only focus on healing individual patients, but improve the health ofShow MoreRelatedComparing The American Academy Of Dramatic Arts And The University Of California1183 Words   |  5 Pagesa good variety of courses. Harlem Renaissance by Nathan Irvin Huggins - 1759 Words

Book Review of The Harlem Renaissance by Antonio Ragland 4/25/2010 In the book entitled Harlem Renaissance by Nathan Irvin Huggins a story is told about the time period before World War I and the following years in which a Black Metropolis was created unlike the world had ever seen. It was the largest and by far the most important black community in the world. It brought together black intellectuals from all over the world to this new Black Mecca with dreams of prosperity and change. Their common goal was the prosperity of the New Negro as Alain Locke called them. This New Negro was one that was cultured, educated, artistic, and would bring prosperity to the African-American. All these were the promises of the Harlem Renaissance.†¦show more content†¦Huggins writes of the time Hughes wrote a poem with a very radical message that his benefactor did not like, which lead him to question where this relationship would take his work. One of the early contributors of white interest in black intellectuals was a man by the name of Carl Van Vechten. He counted numerous black artists as his friends. He was responsible for popularizing Black Art. He through his connections allowed people like Langston Hughes to enter the white mainstream. He also cultivated and encouraged numerous other young artists and similarly launched numerous careers. It was his fascination with the exotic and primitive as Huggins put it that sparked his slumming trips uptown into Harlem. That incredible rush he felt allowed him to bring many prominent white patrons back to Harlem. His popularization began the golden era called the Harlem Renaissance. Huggins called him The undisputed Prince of Harlem. Huggins also mentions that the fact that there were so many different types of Afro-Americans in Harlem it prevented the unification of a desired voting block. Argumentative Essay About Sexual Assault - 895 Words

Are you okay? Please do not cry. You are not alone. You do not know me but I am listening; I will wipe your tears, and stand by your side. Because what happen to you is not right, it is unjust, unmoral, and revolting. Although I was not there, I am here now. Although I have not experienced it, I am listening. However, I will never truly understand what you went through because I have not lived it. Sexual assault is â€Å"illegal sexual contact that usually involves force upon a person without consent or is inflicting upon a person who is incapable of giving consent†, according to Webster Dictionary. I will not judge you, I will not patronize you, and you can trust me. What happened that night? Can you remember? What started out as a fun night with drinking and dancing; ended with your cold naked body lying upon the ground. You were intoxicated, incoherent, and unconscious. Your blood alcohol level and your dashing good looks should not make you vulnerable or a victim to inhuma ne acts of sexual violence. Where you at a party? What were you wearing? Who did you go with? Where you drinking? Where you flirting with anyone? Quite frankly, it does not matter where you were, what you wearing, who you were with, and if you were intoxicated. Mozart And Women Essay Example For Students

Mozart And Women Essay In Mozarts time (the late 1700s), women were viewed much differently than theyare viewed today. Women were perceived as being inferior (intellectually andphysically) to men. As we all know, the women were supposed to spend their timein the house cleaning, cooking, and taking care of the children. Although, wemust take into account that this was mostly the biased perspective of the men ofthe time. As time progressed, the submissive female role changed. Their presencebecame much more prevalent as time went on. Mozarts apparent personalperspective of women, which was demonstrated in his many operas, did not seem tocorrelate with the universal perspective of woman at the time. His perspectiveof women portrayed in The Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni is much more liketodays perspective than the perspective of his time. In The Marriage of Figaro, the women are portrayed as intelligent, cunning, wise, and faithful. In TheMarriage of Figaro, the women are presented with the problem of deal ing withtheir jealous and lustful husbands. Ironically, it is the lowerclass woman, Susanna, who provides the needed leadership and wisdom whenit comes to solving the problem. She is the one that comes up with the idea tochange clothes with the Countess to test the fidelity and loyalty of the Count. It might have been expected for a man to come up with a plan so clever, or atleast for the upper class and supposedly more intelligent Countess to come upwith the idea, but low and behold, the lowly servant comes throughwith the great idea. In comparison with the males in the opera, the women areportrayed with much more fidelity and loyalty especially towards their spouses. The men are portrayed as foolish, lustful, and jealous when it comes to love. The Count is the worst he displays lustfulness, jealousy and above all, hypocrisy. He lusts after Susanna and expects her to break her promise offidelity to her fianc? Figaro. He also gets jealous when Cherubino tries tocourt the Countess. By doing this, he creates a double standard for him and theCountess. He feels that he should be allowed to act unfaithfully, while his wifeis to remain completely faithful. The Count also portrays a very deceitful sidewhen tries to entice Susanna. He puts on a fa?ade just to convince her to sleepwith him. Susannas also portrays a somewhat deceitful side, although hers isthere to expose the deceitfulness of the Count. In Don Giovanni, the women inthe opera are portrayed somewhat, although not entirely different than they arein The Marriage of Figaro. They do not seem to be on the same level of wisdomand intelligence as they were in Don Giovanni. On the other hand, the men arealso portrayed as much more evil and deceptive as well. The women were port rayedas being very emotional in Don Giovanni. Donna Anna is the most emotionalcharacter in the opera. She is very vengeful (rightly so) when it comes to herfathers death and very vengeful toward the murderer himself. Thisdistressfulness is most evident in the scene when she gives the account of thenight of the murder to her husband Don Ottavio. We dont see any of the malecharacters display this kind of free emotion. Donna Elvira, the ex-fianc?, isanother one of the main female characters in the opera. She is also a veryemotional character. When she meets Don Giovanni in the opera, she exhibits agreat amount of sadness and despair towards her former lover. She is alsoportrayed as being very na?ve when it comes to the reputation and intentions ofDon Giovanni. She is easily deceived by Don Giovannis false promises and emptyflattery. Even though he had already left her once, she is foolish enough tobelieve him again. And in the end, it turns out (as expected) that DonGiovannis promises and words of flattery were all just a total sham. Theaudience watches as Donna Elvira is yet again duped by her former lover. .u1e493ae0fa7c70eac48cba279ae728c6 , .u1e493ae0fa7c70eac48cba279ae728c6 .postImageUrl , .u1e493ae0fa7c70eac48cba279ae728c6 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u1e493ae0fa7c70eac48cba279ae728c6 , .u1e493ae0fa7c70eac48cba279ae728c6:hover , .u1e493ae0fa7c70eac48cba279ae728c6:visited , .u1e493ae0fa7c70eac48cba279ae728c6:active { border:0!important; } .u1e493ae0fa7c70eac48cba279ae728c6 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u1e493ae0fa7c70eac48cba279ae728c6 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u1e493ae0fa7c70eac48cba279ae728c6:active , .u1e493ae0fa7c70eac48cba279ae728c6:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u1e493ae0fa7c70eac48cba279ae728c6 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u1e493ae0fa7c70eac48cba279ae728c6 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u1e493ae0fa7c70eac48cba279ae728c6 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u1e493ae0fa7c70eac48cba279ae728c6 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u1e493ae0fa7c70eac48cba279ae728c6:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u1e493ae0fa7c70eac48cba279ae728c6 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u1e493ae0fa7c70eac48cba279ae728c6 .u1e493ae0fa7c70eac48cba279ae728c6-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u1e493ae0fa7c70eac48cba279ae728c6:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Exile in San rancisco EssayZerlinas situation is very similar to that of Donna Elvira. She is wooed by DonGiovanni and convinced by his false promises. She is also na?ve as to hisintentions towards the opposite sex. She is unaware that Don Giovanni has areputation of being deceitful, shrewd, and very persuasive when it comes toconvincing women that he loves them. Mozarts perspective of women is displayedin the characters of the women in his operas. He therefore perceives women theway the audience would have perceived the women in his operas. For that reason,he perceived women as very intelligent, wise, and emotional people. One has towonder just how different Mozarts persp ective of women was compared to that ofthe current time. If the two varied greatly, what kind of response did Mozartsnumerous operas (especially the two in question: The Marriage of Figaro and DonGiovanni) receive from the audience? Did they appreciate the unusual femaleperspective or did they frown upon it? Did they welcome the change as comedic orconsider it appalling because it was different?

Narrative on a Special Place free essay sample

My love for Africa Hello everyone my name is Tulsi Amin and I attend South University at the West Palm Beach Campus in Florida. I have been to many different places in my life and in fact I have stayed in three different continents as of now. I was born in India moved to Kenya when I was two and final destination is America since the age of 10. Africa is where I consider my childhood where I learned to play with butterflies saw talking parrots and was visited by wild monkeys frequently in my courtyard. With my experiences with people in the Western world and their depiction of Africa being like the â€Å"Jungle Book† I wish I can take them all there to see the reality of this beautiful continent. I lived in Nairobi, Kenya the capital city of that country. There are no lions, tigers or giraffes on the street as I have heard many people ask me. We will write a custom essay sample on Narrative on a Special Place or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page We do have high rise buildings, malls, public transportation and homes built out of brick. Although I lived there from the age of two to eight I remember many things that are very special to me today.I remember having an aunt that lived in a town called Thompson Falls that was on the Equator and the weather was always perfect there. I used to go there many summers and go down waterfalls and see huge hippos basting in the river. I met the local tribes that are called Masais and learned to make tribal necklaces out of gemstones. Africa is a country that is full of culture and having been lived there has made me appreciate many things in life that are scarce resources that we take for granted elsewhere. When I moved to America in 1993 and started school in New Jersey I was so excited when I saw a few black students in my class. I went up to them and started speaking in Swahili and they looked at me and replied â€Å"I am sorry we are not Indian† So I told them no this is your language. All the students looked at me and said our language is English. That’s when I learned that African Americans do not speak Swahili the native language of Kenya. As I learned more about history and slavery and saw how many African Americans lost their roots to their homeland it was a rude awakening for me.I am glad that this is a rich part of my life and will always be a special place for me. Although many people got a colorful depiction of Africa and the safaris through Disney’s Lion King the real safari is even more exciting to see. I do remember traveling to other smaller towns that were on the outskirts on our way we would zebras grazing in this vast open green land. Many times we have seen giraffes, antelopes and elephants just enjoying their natural habitat. These memories and sightings are something that I will never forget.I love that country and am delighted that it is part of my life. I will love sharing these memories with my children and hoping to take them one day to see Kenya, Africa. Over the years I thought how I may make people appreciate other countries and their culture. America is known as the â€Å"melting pot† where many different cultures come to make a living yet are we so ignorant to learn about all these cultures. As a child when I attended school I was taught about all major religions and how to respect others and their beliefs. As they say education and manners are taught young and school is where this appreciation for other cultures should be taught. Modern day education needs to implement the positive aspects of the other countries such as teaching students about their culture, economy, what these countries are famous for. I learned about slavery which is a big part of part history but now it is time to teach and appreciate where the slaves came from. They left their roots so far behind that many of them do not know where they came from in Africa. We live in a modern day world where everyone around us comes from different backgrounds, values and beliefs. We all have special meaning for the places where we come from and I think we deserve for others to respect these places. There are problems everywhere but despite them when they place is special to any one of us we tend to overlook the problems. We need to have an open mind and room to explore and learn about other countries and cultures.

Social Enterprise Designing Products and Services

Question: Discuss about theSocial Enterprisefor Designing Products and Services. Answer: Product Lifecycle: An Introduction Every product has four stages in its lifecycle namely, introduction, growth, maturity and decline stage. Product lifecycle management model is a model used by companies to introduce their products in the markets. The locations of products on the cycle direct companies like banking and construction to make marketing strategy and also tells them when to introduce new products (Osborne et al., 2014). The paper is a study of the model taking the ADCB as an example showing its strategies in these stages. Introduction: A new product is introduced at this stage into the market. The main concern of the producer at this stage is to gain market penetration through aggressive promotion in order to get consumer base (Ko Chen, 2014). Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank was founded in the year in 1985 as a public limited liability company by merging of Emirates Commercial Bank and Federal Commercial Bank with Khaleej Commercial Bank. The new bank, headquartered in Dubai aimed at serving the customers of its predecessor banks at this stage as it did not have any market of its own ("Personal, Online Business Banking Services UAE - ADCB", 2017). Growth The new product at this stage has a customer base that it serves and aims at expanding it. The companies increases prices for their products and also aim at building a brand image of it. Profits rise more than the introductory phase and the company also increases its promotional activities (Huertas Consolacin, 2009). ADCB sponsored an entrepreneurial event called Emirati entrepreneurs in 2010 to promote business banking products. The bank got enlisted in Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange. It also takes to expansion of its business beyond the borders of UAE and toady has presence in North America, the UK and India. Maturity: Products reach their highest market position at this stage and earn the highest revenue. Products at this stage already enjoy the advantage of their high brand value and concentrate on niche marketing to get deeper market penetration and overseas expansion. The producers decrease the value of their products and also offer discounts to get competitive advantage. A bank at this stage is a famous financial institution and has various verticals and also takes to providing banking services by using the latest technology. ADCB provides personal and business banking and Islamic banking with through mobile and internet banking. Today, the bank has matured and evolved into an international banking brand providing bank services backed by innovation and excellence. Its official website acts a powerful tool to promote its products and provides the stakeholders sand investors with financial data. Decline: A product at this stage cannot attract new customers and losses heavily on revenue. A company usually withdraws such a product and introduces a new product or an upgraded version of the earlier product. A bank at this stage introduces new products and strengthens its digital presence to retain its market. Banks at this stage are also taken over or merged with other banks. Conclusion: It can be summed up that every product has a lifecycle through which it passes. It holds true for all organizations even for international brands like ADCB.
